Black tar along the road looks nasty. I guess it helps with killing the weeds encroaching the road. It still looks ugly.
just my 2 cents.

Some areas of ice remain between town and the 'Y' . Mostly in the shady spots. As of 12-18 drive careful.

Two accidents between PMC and the Y
1. Just below the Y, looks like a fender bender between SUV and Car (Patrol on scene).
2. North of Woodland on MP. Truck completely off the road between MP and MP Frontage Rd.
It's very slick out there tonight. Temp is already below freezing.

| Yep, lots of newbees on the road. After they wreck their autos because they have no chains or 4x4, they pack up the uhaul and move out. Saw an abandoned uhaul at the "y" tonight. lol |

a U-Haul? thats crazy. I've noticed soon as the snow melt there seems to be a few U Hauls around in the spring. Perhaps new people move up during the summer, get alittle freek when it snows. I say roll with it....take the day off...enjoy mothernature , don't fight it.

County trucks were at the "Y" this evening preparing a grader to scrape off the ice build up from the "Y" into PMC. This was around 6:30pm, they said they would be starting in an hour or two. I used chains for my two wheel drive, as it was still quite slick in places this evening. _________________ Carl Reese Construction

| Yeah I was hoping we'd get a repave on Mil Potrero. Guess we have to wait at least another year.. |

My guess on the pot holes, longer then a year.
They'll just keep sticking putty in them and squirt the longer cracks with liquid tar stuff.
The plows tear it up again every winter.
The small quick fixes in the long run will cost the state a substantial amount more then if they just did the job the right way to begin with.
The top at the Y, you have to grit your teeth when you drive by or you'll crack one due to how bumpy it is.
I can't help wondering if we are at the bottom of the list for road repairs since on the grand scheme of things, we are too small of a community.
Ca. roadways in general are falling apart everywhere, |

| Yeah those bumps at the top of the Y are crazy, I don't remember that ever developing in previous years. |

In all the years I've been up here, I've never seen Mil Potrero in such bad shape. Ditto the I-5 Freeway -- not just the truck lanes, all the lanes are more trashed than they've ever been.
Cerro Noroeste Road from PMC to the 166 used to be almost perfectly free of potholes & cracks -- a combination of light traffic and good maintenance. But not now.
Paving repairs... shoulder weed abatement... sign maintenance & replacement... from country road departments to CalTrans, the budgets have been slashed so much that the infrastructure is literally crumbling before our eyes.

Yeah those bumps at the top of the Y are crazy, I don't remember that ever developing in previous years.
I don't think they developed natually on their own due to age.
I think the crumby roadwork in general created them and they never bothered to come back and fix it.
Just stuck a sign up when they were done saying,
"Caution, bumpy road" or something like that.
In the smaller cars, it's not so bad. In an SUV, truck, anything with height on it, it's realignment time.
Ca has once again found a way to raise the price of registration to regain what they lost a few years back when they were force to pay back all the motorist money on something that wasn't in effect for years.
Forgot exactly what it was.
Even though they have found a way to get that money back, the roads are not any better.
Have you ever seen Origon's roads?
Smooth, dark, like new, and always a crew out there repaving an entire section of roadway.
No "patch" jobs.
Their roadways being repaired, would never get a glance here. California would consider them new.
I can't help thinking what travelers think when they hit Ca.
Bet Ca. is not much of a roadtrip tourist grabber. |
